The 79th Annual Ice Show - Broadway On Ice!
The 79th Annual Ice Show for the Lake Region Figure Skating Club was titled “Broadway on Ice” and it was presented March 15 and 16, 2025, at the Burdick Arena.
Presented by Skating Director Mallory Jevning with Coaching staff Rachel Fritz, Samantha Hahn, Mallory Jevning and Nicole McIvor. The Board of Directors are Fields Olson, President; Vice President Jess Brekke; Treasurer Vanessa McLaughlin and Secretary Rachel DeVoogt with Ashley Leibfried, Nikki Paulson, Bobbi Jo Mertens and Heather MacDonald.
The program featured a Welcome Number “New York, New York” presented by all the skating show participants. It was followed by the Advanced Program Number “Puttin’ on the Ritz”; Snowplow 1 & 2 with the Lion King’s Hakuna Matata and Snowplow 4 with “I Can’t Wait to be King” also from the Lion King. Then the duet of Adley Olson and Katelyn Dumont featured a specialty number from Cabaret.
The Twinkling Stars presented a number from Matilda featuring 21 skaters which was followed by a Senior Solo “Breakaway” starring Faith Tjelta.
The Basic 3 & 4 presented a number from Shrek; A Dance Number from Moulin Rouge (with 18 skaters – dancers); two numbers from Aladdin, the first “Friend Like Me” by Basic 1 & 2 and the second “Once Jump” by Hockey 2 & 4; Six skaters from high school presented the High School Number “Six” and Gabby Hunter and Kaigen Olson did a specialty number from Moulin Rouge.
Six skaters presented “Basic Five” from Hairspray, a Power Number from the Phantom of the Opera featuring 18 of the club’s skaters and from Momma Mia a family number by the Learn to Skate Lake Region Figure Skating Families which rounded out the first half of the program.
Second Half
The Great Gatsby highlighted 22 skaters in a Competitor Test Number.
That was followed by the Basic 6 performing “Newsies;” Annaliese Johnson and Chesney Brekke doing a Specialty Number from Chicago.
Then PreFreeskate & Freeskate 1 skated to Rock of Ages.
Bye Bye Birdie “Partner Number” featured three selected pairs of skaters.
Carmen Lindquist did a Senior Solo “Stand in the Light.”
Then it was time for the Lake Region Figure Skating Families to shine once again in a Family Number for PreFreeskate and Above “Fame!”
A specialty number from Jersey Boys spotlighted Ava Leibfried, Kimber Arndt, Kynlee Schiele and Aubrie Kraft.
The program ended with numbers featuring Faith Tjelta “Popular; Carmen Lundquist “Defying Gravity”; Carmen and Faith presenting together “One Day Short” and the finale “New York, New York” spotlighting the Lake Region Figure Skating skaters.
