With an “army” of volunteers and months of preparation and planning the Devils Lake Kiwanis Club saw another successful Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, Nov. 28 at the KC Hall.

Being an advocate for the prevention of suicide was not something that Theresa Deckert had thought about much in life, but a significant loss changed everything.

Now in its eighth year, the Medora-themed “Magical Medora Christmas” show is getting ready to hit the road to perform for audiences in 24 communities including Friday, Dec. 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the Robert Fawcett Auditorium at Lake Region State College.

As the weather changes to bring snow and colder temperatures, our thoughts turn to Thanksgiving.

Fashion can be many things. It can be unique, trendy, or just something that makes you happy. Maddock’s Jillian Conradie, of the newly opened women’s clothing store Camora said she loves to make “other women feel beautiful.”

Tara Rogness has always wanted to have her own business. The Devils Lake resident had the opportunity to achieve her dream with North Dakota Coffee Connection back in June.

I spend a lot of time talking about the outdoors and one of the more recent conversations connected with old timers eating everything “but the squeal” from a pig to acknowledge how our generations couldn’t afford to waste anything consumed as food. It was a generation and time through the Depression and world wars when ends were met by rationing gas and supplies to basically shaming any food waste. You just couldn’t afford to throw anything away.

“Holiday Sleigh Rides and more” will be held at Stump Lake Village on Sunday, December 8, from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Chili, soups, Mac ‘n’ cheese, homemade bread, Christmas goodies, and hot beverages will be served for a free will offering.
