Three Royals were named to the Mon-Dak all-conference basketball teams, following Lake Region State College’s elimination in the Region XIII semifinals.
Bronson Chambers was a First Team selection, while Alvin Payne and Ginuwine Tropnas were Second Team selections.
Chambers, a sophomore transfer from CSU Monterey Bay, was 12th in the conference with 14.3 points per game. He also ranked 15th in rebounds per game with 5.3.
Tropnas was only slightly behind Chambers in scoring, with his 13.8 points per game good for 15th in the conference. He was third in the conference in rebounds per game with 8.8. He also had 46 blocks this season and 105 over his two-year Royals career, setting the school blocks record.
Payne ranked 22nd in the conference with 11.4 points per game. That was despite starting just 20 times in 31 games played.
Freshman Poet Davis actually led the Royals in points per game with 15.5, which ranked seventh in the conference. He was likely excluded from the all-conference teams due to the time he missed with an injury; he only played in 25 games and got 22 starts.
Freshman Akok Ajou ranked fifth in the conference in rebounds per game and 26th in points per game, but was also excluded.
LRSC went 16-16 this year, a vast improvement from the previous two years. Tropnas was one of just four returning players on a 15-man roster. Payne, Davis and Ajou are among those who still have eligibility to play in Royal blue for one more season.
