The Spirit Lake Tribe, along with other tribes in the state, are helping in the efforts to find 20-year-old college student Renzo Bullhead. Bullhead has been missing since March 16.
The Spirit Lake Tribe has provided a press release approved by the family of Bullhead.
“The family of Renzo Bullhead is deeply appreciative of the ongoing support and efforts from the community during this challenging time. We recognize that it has been a long week, filled with uncertainty and stress for everyone who loves and cares for Renzo. In response to this situation, we are implementing a more coordinated search effort to maximize our chances of finding him. To ensure we manage this effort effectively, we kindly ask volunteers to commit to participating in shifts of 10-12 individuals per weekday. We understand and respect that many have work, school, and family obligations, and we want to be mindful of those responsibilities as best as we can. Our base of operations will continue to be at the United Tribes Technical College; however, please note that the designated meeting room will be changing. We will provide updates on the new room location as soon as they are confirmed. We ask that you direct all messages to the official Facebook page; ‘Renzo Bullhead Search Page.’ Thank you for your continued support, prayers, and dedication to finding Renzo. Together, we hold onto hope as we search for him.”
The family wanted to reach out and thank the following groups:
Mandan Police Department
Bismarck Police
North Dakota Highway Patrol
United Tribes Technical College for opening their campus.
The Spirit Lake Tribe for dispatching a team of experienced searchers along with drones for aerial support
The Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara NaRon for contributing boats and sonar technology for critical waterway support
The Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa for deploying emergency response crafts
The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe for continuing to provide additional watercraft support in the coming days
The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe for joining in their efforts with their search parties and watercraft
Bloodhounds trained in water scent tracking en route from Minnesota.
Woodlake District Council Representative Kooper Longie also issued a statement to the Journal.
“In times of uncertainty, deploying our resources to assist in the search for Renzo Bullhead, is not just a decision—it’s a commitment to clarity in chaos. We recognize the impact that not knowing can have on families, and we believe it is our responsibility to provide support. Our Wildland Fire Department coordinated the incident command center along with the overall search, while our EPA team facilitated water searches, and our public relations specialist worked to amplify the family’s efforts. We stand in solidarity not only with Renzo’s family but also in remembrance of our own missing tribal members, Isaac Hunt and Jemini Posey, who have been absent for over a year. Together as tribal nations, we will navigate this difficult journey with purpose and resolve.”
